The Exchange is an 11-day programme delivered over six months that'll shift how you see yourself and your organisation. Centred on two leadership exchanges, you’ll go inside the world of other leaders and invite them into your own. By observing leaders and organisations that are different to you, and then by being observed, you’ll see yourself and your responsibility in a new light.

How does the Exchange programme work?

STEP BACK: 2 WORKSHOPS
Experiential skills-building while you explore what responsibility means for you and your organisation.
MONTHS 3-5
4 days shadowing 4 days being shadowed
STEP OUT: 2 LEADERSHIP EXCHANGES
Put your skills into practice by going inside two organisations to observe leadership and culture in action, and then be observed.
MONTH 6
1 day
STEP FORWARD: FINAL WORKSHOP
Share learnings as a cohort and develop a plan for you and your organisation to lead more responsibly.
GO DEEPER ONLINE
Optional online sessions to deepen learning with your cohort, plus rich content to explore topics of your choice in more depth.

You'll have the opportunity to bring a live business challenge to work through during the programme. This can link to your strategic priorities or an existing change programme.

We encourage organisations to put groups of leaders on the Exchange programme to maximise the benefits to the organisation.

What makes an Exchange participant?

Exchange participants are open-minded, ready to have their assumptions challenged and ambitious to be a change-maker for a responsible future. You'll value different perspectives and new ways of working, and be open to ideas from leaders working in business practices and communities unlike your own. Participants usually have at least five years' experience in senior management and manage a team of at least five people. You must also be prepared to host other Exchangers in your office.

Participating organisations

Every spring and autumn, we bring together 60 leaders from different sectors to explore responsible leadership in practice.

Organisations that have participated in the Exchange programme include Amplify Change, BAE Systems, Bank of England, Barclays, British Army, Cancer Research, Civil Service, easyJet, Health Foundation, KPMG, Livity, Lloyds Banking Group, Metropolitan Police, Crisis and Tesco.
